The data obtained were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model to gain a comprehensive contextual understanding. The results of the study indicate that the low quality of teachers, the mismatch between educational background and the subjects taught, and the weak implementation of school management functions are the main factors causing the low accreditation. In addition, it was found that school self-evaluation is still administrative in nature and has not been used as a basis for continuous quality development. This generation possesses unique characteristics such as dependence on technology, a desire for learning autonomy, and a tendency toward visual and interactive learning. These traits demand a more flexible, adaptive, and personalized educational approach. Personalized learning is considered one method capable of addressing these needs. The aim of this study is to explore the opportunities and challenges of implementing personalized learning for Generation Z. The research employed a qualitative methodology. To achieve this, a qualitative research approach was used, drawing data from various relevant literature sources. The Miles and Huberman model was applied as the data analysis methodology, which includes the processes of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing comprehensive conclusions. The results of the study indicate that personalized learning can enhance student motivation, engagement, and learning outcomes through the use of technology such as adaptive learning systems, digital platforms, and artificial intelligence. Additionally, personalized learning fosters the development of 21st-century skills such as independence, digital literacy, and problem-solving. However, challenges such as the digital divide, teacher readiness, and limitations of the national curriculum remain critical issues to be addressed. Despite their distinct frameworks, all models share core phases: needs analysis, design, development, evaluation, and implementation. The analysis shows that Borg and Gall suits large-scale iterative studies, ADDIE is valued for its simplicity and flexibility, 4D is effective for instructional tool development, Hannafin & Peck aligns with technology-based media, and Dick and Carey supports systematic instructional design. The findings emphasize the importance of selecting models based on goals, product complexity, and resource availability. In the Indonesian educational context, students often face challenges in producing well-structured and logically supported arguments, partly due to limited emphasis on critical thinking in traditional teaching methods. Argumentative writing requires not only language proficiency but also the ability to analyze, evaluate, and synthesize information. This research aims to determine whether a significant correlation exists between these two essential academic competencies. The study employed a quantitative correlational research design involving 30 students from the Language Program. Critical thinking skills were measured using the Watson-Glaser Critical Thinking Appraisal (WGCTA), while argumentative writing ability was assessed through a standardized writing test evaluated by a rubric. Data analysis using Pearson’s Product-Moment Correlation and SPSS Version 25 revealed a very strong positive correlation (r = 0.813) between critical thinking and argumentative writing. The coefficient of determination (R² = 0.661) indicated that 66.1% of the variance in writing performance can be attributed to critical thinking abilities, while the remaining 33.9% is influenced by other factors such as language proficiency and prior writing experience. The findings confirm a significant positive correlation between critical thinking and argumentative writing, supporting the integration of critical thinking strategies into writing instruction. Students with higher critical thinking scores generally produced more coherent, logical, and persuasive texts. The study suggests that educators should incorporate techniques such as argument mapping, debates, and peer review sessions to enhance both cognitive and linguistic development.
2025-07-10T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Yulian Juita Ekalia, Fransiskus Jemadi, Indra Susantohttps://journal.yp3a.org/index.php/diajar/article/view/4983The Influence of Social Media and Peer Interaction on Students’ English Writing Proficiency 2025-07-23T15:23:23+00:00Siti Masluhasitimasluha@upm.ac.idRasyidah Nur Aisyah rasyidah.nuraisyah@upm.ac.idRegita Febriyanti regitafebriyanti@upm.ac.id
This study looks at how students in the English Department at Universitas Panca Marga's writing skills change when they use social media and have organized interactions with their peers. Participants were chosen using a saturated sampling method, and the study used a quantitative method analyzed through SmartPLS software. The level of English writing skills was the dependent variable, and the amount of time spent on social media and structured peer contact were the independent variables. Multiple signs were used to measure each variable, and reliability and validity tests were used to evaluate them. The results indicate that both using social media and structured peer interaction have a good impact on students' writing skills, with structured peer interaction having a bigger effect. Participating in social media helps build vocabulary and writing speed, and working with others in an organized way improves grammar, coherence, and the ability to think critically about what you've written. These results show that digital and collaborative learning settings work hand-in-hand to help students improve their writing. In the cooperative learning model, students are divided into carefully designed small groups. Although the teacher provides basic materials and guidance, the main focus is on the interaction between group members. Each member has an important role in the learning process, where they are not only responsible for understanding the material themselves, but also helping and supporting other group members in achieving understanding. In implementing the use of cooperative learning to optimize learning outcomes in the fiqh material on the chapter on prayer, the preparation made by the teacher is to determine the material in the chapter on prayer (for example, obligatory prayer, conditions and pillars of prayer, prayer readings and congregational prayer). Prepare media (video tutorials, worksheets, pictures of the pillars of prayer).
2025-07-10T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Iltiqaul Jannah, Izul Herman
