In addition to environmental factors, genetic aspects are known to play an important role in the pathogenesis of essential hypertension. One of the most extensively studied candidate genes is the angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) gene, particularly the insertion/deletion (I/ccD) polymorphism in intron 16. This article aims to systematically review the scientific evidence regarding the association between ACE gene polymorphism and the occurrence of hypertension. A literature search was conducted through various international scientific publications addressing the biological mechanisms of ACE, the distribution of I/D genotypes, and their association with hypertension risk across different populations. The review findings indicate that the deletion (D) allele is associated with increased plasma and tissue ACE activity, leading to elevated production of angiotensin II and enhanced degradation of bradykinin, thereby contributing to vasoconstriction and increased blood pressure. Several observational studies and meta-analyses report that the DD genotype or the presence of the D allele is associated with an increased risk of essential hypertension in various ethnic groups, although inconsistencies in results across populations have been observed. Differences in genetic background, environmental factors, and research methodologies are thought to influence these variations. Overall, ACE gene polymorphism, particularly the I/D variant, plays an important role in the pathophysiology of hypertension and has the potential to serve as a basis for the development of genetic-based predictive and therapeutic approaches in the future.
Atika Indah Sari Copyright (c) 2026 Atika Indah Sari https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-05-15 2026-05-15 5 2 488 502 10.54259/sehatrakyat.v5i2.6897 Pengembangan Formula Enteral Rendah Lemak Berbasis Pangan Lokal (Labu Kuning dan Tepung Kedelai) sebagai Strategi Peningkatan Kualitas Pelayanan Gizi Rumah Sakit https://journal.yp3a.org/index.php/sehatrakyat/article/view/7103
Low-fat enteral nutrition is an essential component of hospital nutritional support for patients with fat intolerance, hepatobiliary and pancreatic disorders, and post operative conditions. Nevertheless, standard hospital formulas frequently present limitations in nutritional adequacy, physical properties particularly texture and sensory acceptability. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of varying concentrations of pumpkin flour and soybean flour on the nutritional composition, viscosity, flow rate, and sensory acceptability of a low-fat enteral nutrition formula. A quasi experimental study employing a post-test-only control group design was conducted by comparing a standard hospital formula (F0) with two modified formulations (F1 and F2). The study was performed from October to December 2025 at RSUD Gambiran Kediri and the Integrated Laboratory of Poltekkes Kemenkes Malang. Hedonic testing involved 20 nutrition students using a 4-point hedonic scale. Nutritional composition was calculated based on the Indonesian Food Composition Table. Sensory data were analyzed using the Kruskal Wallis and Mann Whitney U tests, while flow rate was assessed using one-way ANOVA. The findings indicated that the modified formulations significantly increased energy and protein content compared with the standard formula while maintaining low fat levels. Formula F2 exhibited the most favorable physical characteristics, with a flow rate of 5.14 cc/s and a viscosity of 427.5 cP, and achieved the highest acceptance scores for taste and color (p < 0.05). All formulations complied with hospital food service budget standards. Therefore, F2 demonstrates strong potential as a nutritionally adequate and acceptable alternative low-fat enteral formula.
Munitya Anjalya Pertiwi Rani Nurmayanti Copyright (c) 2026 Munitya Anjalya Pertiwi, Rani Nurmayanti https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-05-15 2026-05-15 5 2 503 516 10.54259/sehatrakyat.v5i2.7103 Manajemen Farmakologis Penyakit Hati Berlemak Non-Alkoholik (NAFLD) dalam Upaya Penurunan Prevalensi Penyakit Ginjal Kronis: Tinjauan Sistematis Perspektif Epidemiologi Terapan https://journal.yp3a.org/index.php/sehatrakyat/article/view/7144
Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a global health problem frequently associated with diabetes mellitus and obesity. Disasters affect not only the physical safety of older adults but also their emotional and psychological well-being, highlighting the need for disaster management approaches that are sensitive and specialized. This study aimed to explore the needs of older adults in disaster situations. A qualitative study with a phenomenological approach was conducted. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with eight participants who were directly involved in the management and care of older adults during disasters. Data analysis was performed using Colaizzi’s method. The findings revealed four main themes: (1) the need for age-friendly evacuation facilities and infrastructure; (2) limitations in human resources during the evacuation process; (3) the need for health and psychosocial support services, particularly for older adults with cognitive impairments; and (4) the need for institutional and policy support. These findings indicate that the needs of older adults in disaster contexts are multidimensional and interrelated. Therefore, inclusive and integrated disaster management strategies that are oriented toward the specific needs of older adults are essential to enhance their safety, preparedness, and overall well-being during disaster situations.
Lucky Albertus Palenewen Fidy Randy Sada Cornelia Fransiska Sandehang Johanis Kerangan Copyright (c) 2026 Lucky Albertus Palenewen, Fidy Randy Sada, Cornelia Fransiska Sandehang, Johanis Kerangan https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-05-15 2026-05-15 5 2 540 554 10.54259/sehatrakyat.v5i2.7174 Faktor-Faktor Penyebab Terjadinya Duplikasi Penomoran Rekam Medis Rawat Jalan Berdasarkan Aspek 5M di Puskesmas Bringin Kabupaten Semarang Tahun 2021 https://journal.yp3a.org/index.php/sehatrakyat/article/view/7198
Based on preliminary studies conducted by the author at the Bringin Community Health Center, 35 duplicate outpatient medical records were found in 2020. Families, as the closest social environment, play an important role in the recovery process and in preventing the recurrence of pasung after release from restraint. This study aimed to analyze the informal roles of families in providing psychosocial support to prevent pasung among people with mental disorders after release from restraint in Soppeng Regency. This study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. Informants consisted of family members who had relatives with mental disorders after pasung as general informants and health workers as key informants selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation and analyzed using an interactive analysis model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the informal roles of families in preventing pasung include acting as motivators, harmonizers, mediators, caregivers, connectors with health workers, and companions for people with mental disorders. These roles reflect family psychosocial support through meeting basic needs, providing emotional support, supervising medication, and facilitating access to health services. However, limited family knowledge and socio-cultural influences still affect treatment-seeking behavior. Strengthening family roles through mental health education and collaboration with health workers is therefore important to prevent pasung and support social rehabilitation in the community.
Andi Nur Arifah Apriani Azis Hidayat Asikin Rezki Ramdani Copyright (c) 2026 Andi Nur Arifah Apriani Azis, Hidayat Asikin, Rezki Ramdani https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-05-15 2026-05-15 5 2 645 659 10.54259/sehatrakyat.v5i2.7332 Evaluasi Strategis Kinerja SDM Rekam Medis di Rumah Sakit Islam Gorontalo dalam Mendukung Mutu Layanan Rumah Sakit : Pendekatan Human Resource Scorecard https://journal.yp3a.org/index.php/sehatrakyat/article/view/7333
The Human Resource Scorecard is a performance measurement method that focuses on human resources, strategy, and performance. Cases among toddlers continued to be a significant public health concern because of their greater vulnerability to infection. The rising prevalence of pediatric TB, along with its complex risk factors, highlighted the need to identify the main determinants driving TB occurrence in this age group. The present study investigated factors associated with TB in toddlers across all 38 provinces of Indonesia. Data from the 2024 Indonesian Nutritional Status Survey (SSGI) were used in the analysis, and survey weights were applied following official SSGI guidelines. A cross‑sectional design was adopted, and the sample consisted of 246,338 toddlers. The dependent variable was TB occurrence, whereas the independent variables included child age, nutritional status, stunting, BCG vaccination status, history of exposure to TB patients, low birth weight, employment status of both parents, and household density. Data analysis was carried out in three stages: univariate analysis, bivariate analysis using simple logistic regression, and multivariate analysis using multiple logistic regression. Results from the bivariate analysis indicated that nutritional status, stunting, BCG vaccination, TB exposure history, and low birth weight were significantly associated with TB occurrence. In the multivariate model, a history of TB contact was identified as the most dominant determinant, yielding a prevalence odds ratio (POR) of 46.62 (95% CI: 37.13–58.54).
Resa Triani Defriman Djafri Mery Ramadani Copyright (c) 2026 Resa Triani, Defriman Djafri, Mery Ramadani https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-05-15 2026-05-15 5 2 855 865 10.54259/sehatrakyat.v5i2.7598 Hubungan Intensitas Pencahayaan dengan Kelelahan Mata Pekerja Produksi Premix dan Bagging Off PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia https://journal.yp3a.org/index.php/sehatrakyat/article/view/7514
Inadequate workplace lighting can contribute to visual fatigue and reduce worker productivity in industrial settings. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between lighting intensity and subjective eye fatigue among workers in the premix and bagging off production areas of PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia Plant Margomulyo. This study used a quantitative observational design with a cross-sectional approach. The population consisted of 30 workers, and total sampling was applied. Data were collected using the Visual Fatigue Index (VFI) questionnaire and secondary data on lighting intensity measurements. Data analysis included univariate and bivariate analysis using the coefficient contingency test. The results showed that 90.0% of workers were exposed to lighting intensity below 200 lux, and 53.3% experienced eye fatigue. The analysis indicated a very weak association between lighting intensity and eye fatigue (r = 0.132). Similarly, age, length of work, and years of service also showed very weak relationships with eye fatigue. These findings suggest that although the association is weak, inadequate lighting conditions remain a potential risk factor for eye fatigue and should be addressed to improve occupational health.
Mohamad Khilmi Tri Siwi Agustina Andrea Thrisiawan Pradhana Copyright (c) 2026 Mohamad Khilmi, Tri Siwi Agustina, Andrea Thrisiawan Pradhana https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-05-15 2026-05-15 5 2 866 873 10.54259/sehatrakyat.v5i2.7514 Urgensi Edukasi Antibiotik: Tingkat Pengetahuan dan Praktik Swamedikasi di Puskesmas Makkasau https://journal.yp3a.org/index.php/sehatrakyat/article/view/7590
Background: Antibiotics are essential medicines for treating bacterial infections; however, inappropriate use has become a major driver of the global rise in antibiotic resistance, leading to reduced treatment effectiveness, increased healthcare costs, and higher mortality risk. In Indonesia, resistance to various classes of antibiotics, such as β-lactams and macrolides, has increased significantly in recent years. Prior studies indicate that public knowledge levels substantially contribute to irrational antibiotic use. Puskesmas, as primary healthcare facilities, play a strategic role in education and health promotion regarding prudent antibiotic use. Methods: This descriptive observational study employed a questionnaire to assess patients’ knowledge of antibiotic use at Puskesmas Makkasau. Respondents were selected through convenience sampling, and data were analyzed using frequency distributions to identify knowledge levels. Result: The findings show that most respondents exhibited inadequate knowledge and inappropriate attitudes toward antibiotic use. Conclusion: The majority of visitors to Puskesmas Makkasau had low levels of knowledge about antibiotic use, with persistent misconceptions, such as believing antibiotics cure viral infections; and common practices of sharing, storing, and using antibiotics without a physician’s prescription.
Imam Adrian Rakhman Pandi Prata Suanda Muhammad Nur Ikhwan Copyright (c) 2026 Imam Adrian Rakhman, Pandi Prata Suanda, Muhammad Nur Ikhwan https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-05-15 2026-05-15 5 2 874 887 10.54259/sehatrakyat.v5i2.7590 Transformasi Literasi Kesehatan Reproduksi melalui Model Pemberdayaan Peer Educator Berbasis Participatory Action Research (PAR) Di SMK Kesehatan https://journal.yp3a.org/index.php/sehatrakyat/article/view/7599
The low level of reproductive health literacy among adolescents and psychosocial barriers such as shame and taboos pose significant challenges to health education in school settings. The causes of malnutrition are multifactorial, including direct and indirect factors. This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the incidence of malnutrition in toddlers in South Kalimantan Province. This study is a secondary data analysis using data sources from the 2023 South Kalimantan Provincial Health Profile, with 13 districts/cities as analysis units. The dependent variable is the percentage of malnutrition in toddlers, while the independent variables include the percentage of low birth weight (LBW), exclusive breastfeeding, and pneumonia. Data analysis was performed using multiple linear regression with the enter and backward methods. The results showed that only the variable of exclusive breastfeeding had a significant effect on the incidence of malnutrition (p <0.05), with a negative coefficient indicating that increasing the coverage of exclusive breastfeeding can reduce the incidence of malnutrition. Meanwhile, the variables of low birth weight (LBW) and pneumonia did not show a significant effect. The conclusion of this study is that exclusive breastfeeding is a factor that can reduce the risk of malnutrition in toddlers, so mothers are advised to exclusively breastfeed without additional food or drink until the baby is six months old to ensure optimal nutritional needs are met.
Desie Rahmawati Irma Desylia Maharani Andry Rachmadani Copyright (c) 2026 Desie Rahmawati, Irma Desylia Maharani, Andry Rachmadani https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-05-15 2026-05-15 5 2 898 908 10.54259/sehatrakyat.v5i2.7606 Validitas Reliabilitas Kuesioner BCTQ Indonesia pada Dokter Gigi CTS: Studi Cross-Sectional Samarinda https://journal.yp3a.org/index.php/sehatrakyat/article/view/7671
The Boston Carpal Tunnel Questionnaire (BCTQ) is a leading instrument for assessing symptom severity and functional status in Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS), yet evidence of its validity among dentists in Indonesia remains limited. This cross-sectional study involved 55 dentists with confirmed CTS (positive Phalen and Tinel tests) in Samarinda who self-administered the Indonesian version of the BCTQ (11-item Symptom Severity Scale and 8-item Functional Status Scale). Construct validity was tested using Pearson correlation and internal reliability using Cronbach’s alpha. Subjects comprised 44 females (80.0%) and 11 males (20.0%) with a mean age of 44.7 years. All 11 Symptom Severity Scale items had correlation coefficients of 0.486–0.789 (p<0.01) and the 8 Functional Status Scale items 0.492–0.827 (p<0.01), all exceeding the critical r table value (0.266). Cronbach’s alpha was 0.884 for the Symptom Severity Scale and 0.870 for the Functional Status Scale, both classified as excellent. Therefore, the Indonesian version of the BCTQ is valid and reliable for use among dentists with CTS and is recommended as a screening and treatment outcome evaluation tool in this high-risk population.
Wahyuni Dwi Cahya Sulfandi Sulfandi Rezky Amaliah Usman Ashifa Quamila Copyright (c) 2026 Wahyuni Dwi Cahya, Sulfandi Sulfandi, Rezky Amaliah Usman, Ashifa Quamila https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-05-15 2026-05-15 5 2 909 918 10.54259/sehatrakyat.v5i2.7671 Distribusi Spasial Tuberkulosis Paru Berbasis Sistem Informasi Geografis di Provinsi Jawa Barat Tahun 2023 https://journal.yp3a.org/index.php/sehatrakyat/article/view/7516
Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Southeast Asia has the highest prevalence of pulmonary TB globally (45.6%), with Indonesia ranking second worldwide (9.2%). West Java Province accounts for the largest share of cases in Indonesia, representing 23% of the national total. According to the 2023 Global TB Report, the estimated number of TB cases in Indonesia reached 1,090,000, or 387 per 100,000 population. This study aims to map and describe the spatial distribution of pulmonary TB prevalence as well as risk factors, including nutritional status, smoking habits, and household contact in West Java Province using a Geographic Information System (GIS). The study design employed a quantitative analytical approach using a cross-sectional ecological method, utilizing secondary data from the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI) across 27 districts/cities in West Java Province. Spatial analysis was conducted using QGIS for mapping. The results showed that the distribution of pulmonary TB was dominated by the low category (<0.3%) in 14 areas, the moderate category (0.4–0.7%) in 11 areas, and the high category (>0.8%) in 2 areas. The risk factors of malnutrition and smoking were dominated by the moderate category, while household contact was dominated by the low category. The distribution patterns of risk factors do not always align with the distribution of pulmonary TB, indicating the presence of multidimensional influences. This mapping provides a foundation of information for more targeted pulmonary TB control interventions.
Windiana Nabil Qanitah Maula Ismail Mohammad Lina Khasanah Bambang Karmanto Copyright (c) 2026 Windiana Nabil Qanitah, Maula Ismail Mohammad, Lina Khasanah, Bambang Karmanto https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-05-15 2026-05-15 5 2 919 927 10.54259/sehatrakyat.v5i2.7516
