Peningkatan Intensi Anak Magang untuk Bekerja di Hotel Aryaduta Medan

Industri perhotelan tumbuh pesat, didorong oleh pariwisata global dan meningkatnya permintaan layanan. Pertumbuhan industri pariwisata yang pesat turut mendorong munculnya sekolah-sekolah pariwisata yang bertujuan untuk mencetak tenaga terampil di bidang ini. Namun kenyataannya, hanya 30% lulusan sekolah pariwisata dan perhotelan yang bekerja di industri tersebut. Kebanyakan lulusan tidak tertarik untuk berkarir di industri perhotelan setelah mereka menyelesaikan program magang maupun lulus perkuliahan. PKM ini bertujuan agar para pemimpin departemen Hotel Aryaduta Medan lebih memahami tentang: (1) hal-hal yang menyebabkan para lulusan tidak tertarik untuk berkarir di industri perhotelan (2) cara untuk meningkatkan intensi anak magang untuk berkarir di industri perhotelan. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini merupakan kerjasama antara narasumber dengan Aryaduta Hotel Medan di dalam seminar “Peningkatan Intensi Anak Magang Untuk Bekerja di Hotel Aryaduta Medan”. Berdasarkan hasil diskusi kelompok fokus, diketahui bahwa penyebab rendahnya intensi anak magang untuk bekerja di industri perhotelan adalah: ketidaksesuaian kepribadian mereka dengan budaya kerja di hotel, jam kerja lembur, dan kurangnya keseimbangan antara kehidupan pribadi dan pekerjaan. Manajemen hotel disarankan untuk mengadakan kuesioner umpan balik, mengadakan cross training, dan memberikan beban kerja yang proporsional untuk anak magang.
