LICENSING
Licensing
This page explains how the articles of Jurnal Pendidikan dan Pembelajaran (DIAJAR) may be used, shared, and reused. The authors keep the copyright in their work, and the articles are available to everyone under an open license. The license is also known in Indonesian as Lisensi Creative Commons Atribusi 4.0 Internasional.
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Which license applies? | Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) |
| Who holds the copyright? | The authors. The journal receives the right of first publication. |
| Do I need permission to reuse an article? | No, when the use is allowed by the license and you meet its conditions. |
| Is there a reuse fee? | No. The journal does not charge a fee for the reuse of its articles. |
| May I copy, share, translate, or adapt an article? | Yes, for any purpose, including teaching and commercial use. |
| What must I do? | Give credit, link to the license, indicate any changes, and do not suggest that the authors, the journal, or the publisher endorse your use. |
1. License
The articles published in DIAJAR are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). The license covers the article itself. It does not cover third party material that is clearly marked as excluded, as explained in section 4.
2. Permitted Use
2.1 General use
CC BY 4.0 allows anyone to copy, share, and redistribute the material in any medium or format. It also allows anyone to translate, adapt, and build on the material for any purpose, including commercial use. This includes educational reuse and text and data mining.
No further permission from the journal and no reuse fee are needed for uses that the license already allows. An adapted work does not have to be released under the same license.
2.2 Use in teaching and education
Because DIAJAR publishes research on education and learning, the following uses are typical examples of what the license allows, as long as the conditions in section 3 are met.
- Lecturers, teachers, and trainers may use an article, or parts of it, in lectures, courses, workshops, teacher training, and learning modules, and may distribute copies to their students or participants.
- Students and researchers may quote from an article, include its tables and figures in their own papers, theses, and presentations, and use it in literature reviews, with proper credit and citation.
- Anyone may translate an article into Indonesian, into English, or into another language, including a regional language, and may publish the translation. The translation must state that it is a translation and that the original article is the authoritative version.
- Schools, institutions, and organizations may include an article in a collection or a resource list, in print or online.
3. Attribution and Conditions
When you reuse a DIAJAR article, please meet the following conditions.
- Give appropriate credit, and keep the attribution, copyright, and license notices that are given with the material.
- Provide a link to the CC BY 4.0 license.
- Indicate whether you made changes, and keep the notices of earlier changes.
- Where practical, cite the article and include its DOI or a link to the source.
- Do not suggest that the authors, the journal, or the publisher endorse you or your use of the material.
- Do not add legal terms or technological measures that legally restrict others from doing what the license allows.
Attribution may be given in any reasonable way that suits the medium. This page does not add conditions to the license.
4. Scope and Continuity
4.1 Third party material
Some articles include figures, images, tables, test items, questionnaires, learning materials, or excerpts that belong to other people or organizations and that are clearly marked as excluded from the license. Before you reuse such material, please check its credit line, because separate terms may apply. Authors are responsible for obtaining the permission that they need for third party material in their manuscripts, as described in the Manuscript Preparation guidelines.
4.2 Rights outside the license
CC BY 4.0 may not cover all rights that are involved in a particular use, for example patent rights, trademark rights, privacy rights, and publicity rights. For example, a photograph or a record that shows students, teachers, or other participants may be subject to privacy rights even when the article itself is open. A use that is allowed by a legal exception, and material that is in the public domain, do not need permission under the license.
4.3 Corrected, retracted, or removed articles
A license that has already been granted is not revoked when an article is corrected, retracted, or removed. People who use the material must still follow the conditions of the license. Readers who reuse an article should check its current status, which is explained in the Correction and Retraction policy.
4.4 License information
The license is shown on the article pages and in the publication files. Earlier license statements that can be verified remain displayed. Updating the website does not relicense content that was published before.
5. Authoritative Terms
The legal code of CC BY 4.0 is the authoritative text. This page is only a summary and does not replace it. The full text is available at creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/legalcode. The Copyright Notice identifies who owns the copyright, and this page describes the permissions and the exclusions that apply to reuse.
6. What This Means for Authors
Authors keep the copyright in their work and grant the journal the right of first publication. At the same time, the work is licensed to everyone under CC BY 4.0, so that others may share it when they credit the authors and the first publication in DIAJAR. Authors may make separate, nonexclusive arrangements for the distribution of the published version, for example by depositing it in an institutional repository or by including it in a book, as long as the first publication in the journal is acknowledged. These rights are described in the Copyright Notice.
Because the license allows commercial use and adaptation by others, authors should include only material that they have the right to publish under CC BY 4.0. If a manuscript contains third party material for which this is not possible, the authors must say so clearly in the credit line of that material and must tell the editors when they submit the manuscript.
