OPEN ACCESS POLICY
Open Access Policy
Jurnal Pendidikan dan Pembelajaran (DIAJAR) provides immediate open access to everything that it publishes. The journal believes that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge, and that research on education and learning is most useful when teachers, lecturers, students, school leaders, and policy makers can read it without barriers. This policy follows the principles of the Budapest Open Access Initiative.

1. Immediate and Free Access
The content of DIAJAR is available without charge to every user and every institution. The following principles apply.
- A subscription is not needed to read the articles.
- Registration or login is not needed to read the full text.
- There is no paywall and no access fee.
- There is no embargo. The full text is public as soon as the article is published.
Readers may read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, and link to the full text of the articles without asking the publisher or the authors for prior permission, as long as they follow the conditions of the license in section 2. All published issues can be found in the journal archive.
2. Open License
Articles are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), except for third party material that is clearly marked as excluded. The license allows sharing, adaptation (including remixing and translation), and commercial reuse. The users must credit the authors, acknowledge the original source, provide a link to the license, and indicate whether changes were made. No additional permission is needed for the uses that the license already allows.
The full terms, with examples of reuse in teaching and education and an example of a credit line, are given on the Licensing page.
3. Copyright and Author Rights
Copyright remains with the authors. By publishing in DIAJAR, the authors grant the journal the right of first publication, and the work is licensed to everyone under CC BY 4.0 at the same time. The authors can reuse, share, and distribute their own work, and can make separate, nonexclusive arrangements to distribute the published version, as long as the first publication in DIAJAR is acknowledged. These rights are described in the Copyright Notice.
4. Reader and Reuse Rights
Under CC BY 4.0, readers may reuse the articles without separate permission from the authors, the journal, or the publisher. The permitted uses include the following.
| Use | Example |
|---|---|
| Read and download | Reading an article online or saving it on a device |
| Copy, print, and share | Giving copies to students in a class or to participants in a training |
| Link | Linking to the full text from a course page, a reading list, or a website |
| Translate and adapt | Translating an article into Indonesian, English, or a regional language, with a statement that the original article is the authoritative version |
| Teaching and research | Using an article in lectures, in teacher training, in literature reviews, and in theses |
| Crawl and index | Indexing by search engines, library systems, and citation databases |
| Text and data mining | Analyzing the text of many articles with software |
| Commercial and noncommercial reuse | Including an article in a paid training program, or in a free resource list |
Open access does not mean reuse without conditions. Attribution, a link to the license, and a statement of any changes are required, as explained in the Licensing page.
5. Open Access and Fees for Authors
Open access means that readers do not pay. It does not mean that the journal has no costs. DIAJAR does not charge a submission fee. The publication charge that is paid by authors, and the other charges that may apply to authors, are listed on the Author Fees page, which is the authoritative source for the amounts. Fees are never a reason to accept or reject a manuscript. The editors decide on the basis of the quality and the relevance of the work, as explained in the Peer Review Process and Publication Ethics pages.
6. Self Archiving and Repositories
The journal supports self archiving and does not apply an embargo. Authors may deposit the published version of their article under CC BY 4.0 in the following places.
- Institutional repositories and university repositories.
- Subject repositories and disciplinary repositories.
- Personal websites and academic websites.
- Scholarly profiles and research networks.
- Other legitimate open repositories.
When authors deposit an article, they should acknowledge DIAJAR as the original place of publication, give the DOI where one has been assigned, and link to the official version on the journal website. A copy in a repository of an author does not replace the archive of the journal, which is described in the Archiving Policy.
7. Discovery, Indexing, and Machine Access
The journal supports discovery and machine readable access to its content. Subject to the terms of the license, the content and the metadata of the articles may be searched, linked, crawled, harvested, indexed, analyzed, and processed by academic search engines, library systems, repositories, citation databases, and text and data mining tools. The services in which the journal is indexed are listed on the Indexing page.
8. Third Party Material
Figures, photographs, maps, tables, datasets, test items, questionnaires, quotations, and similar items may have separate copyright or license terms. When such material is excluded from CC BY 4.0, its status should be identified in the credit line. When a reuse is not covered by a legal exception or an open license, the user must obtain permission from the holder of the rights. More guidance is given in section 4 of the Licensing page.
9. Budapest Open Access Initiative
DIAJAR supports the principle of the Budapest Open Access Initiative that scholarly literature should be freely accessible online and available for broad lawful use. The complete declaration can be read at budapestopenaccessinitiative.org/read.
