Abstrak

Public sector employees approaching retirement often carry a distinct burden of anxiety, yet prior studies rarely converge on which form of social support carries the most weight for this group specifically. Addressing that gap, the present study adopts a Systematic Literature Review approach guided by PRISMA principles, drawing on Google Scholar and Scopus searches for the terms "pre-retirement anxiety" and "social support" within the 2021–2026 publication window. Eleven articles ultimately satisfied the inclusion criteria for detailed analysis. The synthesis points to a consistent inverse relationship between social support and pre-retirement anxiety, though the nature of that support matters: instrumental and informational backing from institutions carries more weight against financial anxiety, whereas emotional and esteem-related support from family proves more capable of easing the existential unease tied to losing one's identity as a civil servant. Taken together, these findings offer a basis for government agencies designing retirement-preparation programs that draw on both support types, while also pointing toward a need for longitudinal work that treats the two anxiety dimensions as analytically distinct within public sector populations.
