Urinary tract infection is the most common infectious disease in health care facilities. Urinary tract infections that occur in hospitals, around 75% - 80% are caused by the installation of urinary catheters (Letica-Kriegel et al., 2019). Fifteen percent (15%) to 20% of patients treated in hospitals receive catheterization during hospitalization (CDC, 2015). This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge and skills of nurses in the implementation of prevention of urinary tract infections related to indwelling catheters at the Imelda Pekerja Indonesia Hospital. The type of research used is a quantitative research type with a cross-sectional design. The population in this study were nurses working at the Imelda Pekerja Indonesia Hospital. The sampling technique in this study was a purposive sampling technique, with a sample size of 52 people. The instruments used in this study were questionnaire sheets and observation checklist sheets. Data processing using the Chi-square Test. Data analysis carried out using the chi square test obtainted results with a value (p value) = 0,048 (p < 0,05). It can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between knowledge and skills of nurses in implementing the prevention of urinary tract infection related to indwelling cathetersin hospitals Imelda Pekerja Indonesia Medan. This study can serve as supplementary literature and a source of information for future researchers regarding nurses' knowledge and skills in preventing catheter-associated urinary tract infections, facilitating the development of nursing interventions that align with advancements in nursing science.
